Radio First and the St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council join together annually for a weeklong event at the Birchwood Mall. Chuck Santoni camps out on the roof of the Mall for the entire week. Our Council staff and volunteers staff an information area in the mall during this week in coordination with the radio programming for the event.
This years event was September 18-23, 2011, kicked off with the Walk for Kids Sake on September 18, 2011.
This year, with the help of our generous community, we raised over $110,000 for the prevention of child abuse and neglect and advocacy against child abuse. We would like to thank all of the community members who participated to make Roof-Sit 2011 so memorable. Thanks to our 5 x 5 guests, Sheriff Tim Donnellon, Prosecutor Mike Wendling, CMH Director Mike McCartan and Council President Debra Johnson who, combined, raised nearly $30,000 in one day!!
This tops last year's event by almost $10,000....awesome!!
Welcome to all of our new 107.10 team members!! These individuals donated $107.10 to the Roof Sit and received a team button, t-shirt and on-air recognition. Look for next year's team event!!
Thank you to Woman's Life Chapter 836 for conducting a Mega-Bake Sale on our behalf at the mall on September 17, 2011 and raising over $1,600!!

Looking for Angels!!!
Once again, Council offers three levels of Angel Investor commitments to Roof-Sit - $1,000 - $3,000 - $5,000 - an excellent way for area businesses and service clubs to become involved and promote their services over the airwaves. Each level offers great promotional benefits..contact the Council office for further details!!
Our fantastic Dinner For Kids Sake was held June 15, 2011 at the glorious Fore Lakes Golf Club and Banquet Center.
This event was a spectacular celebration. The theme for this years dinner was "A Tropical Flamingo Fling" and flamingos were everywhere!! Over 350 people attended this fabulous event and over $40,000 was raised to support the work we do with children and families.
We want to thank all those who have contributed to our auctions and all those who joined in the fun. We continue to be humbled by the generous nature of the people in our community.
Planning is already beginning for next year's event... a Red, White & Blue Bash...scheduled for June 13, 2012, check back for details. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or working on our planning committee, please contact our office.
In January of each year, all board members of the St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council join together for review of the prior year's accomplishments and a preview of the coming year's plans for the Council.
The meeting brings together all board members and community partners who have significant involvement with our mission.
The meeting for the upcoming year will be held at the Thomas Edison Inn, where we all meet for a fabulous breakfast on Thursday, January 12, 2012.
We look forward to continue to work together on behalf of our belief that . . . "It shouldn't hurt to be a child".
Our Annual Awards Luncheon was held on March 24, 2011 at Alexanders in Marysville.
Our luncheon is always a wonderful celebration, featuring a special speaker and honoring several outstanding community child advocates.
Our Child Advocate for 2011 is Ryan Rathje, an outstanding coach and teacher in the Marysville School District.
Our Community Child Advocate for 2011 is Renee Barr, a local drama coach who has worked with youth directing plays in both area schools and the Port Huron Recreation Department.
We are proud to honor both our Child Advocate and our Community Child Advocate for their contributions to the community. We look forward to honoring our 2012 Advocates!
