The St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council sponsors several special events and fundraisers which highlight our mission and promote awareness of the problem of child abuse and neglect in our community.
Radio First and the St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council join together annually for a weeklong event at the Birchwood Mall. Chuck Santoni camps out on the roof of the Mall for the entire week. Our Council staff and volunteers staff an information area in the mall during this week in coordination with the radio programming for the event.
This years event will begin on Sunday, September 14,2008 with the annual "For Kids Sake" walk. The activities begin at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeside Park and include music, giveaways and games for children. The WALK begins approximately at 2:00 p.m. with Chuck leading the way to the Birchwood Mall. The Roof-Sit will last through Friday, September 19th, until Chuck Santoni comes down from the roof. This event has been a huge success in the past - we look forward to all participants joining to help us make it a even greater success this year.
In 2007, with the help of our generous community, we raised over $115,000 for the prevention of child abuse and neglect and advocacy against child abuse. We would like to thank all of the community members who participated to make Roof-Sit 2007 so memorable. The great weather and bright sunshine made for a wonderful event.
The St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council appreciates all donations in support of the belief that

Our fantastic Dinner For Kids Sake will be held this year in the glorious Fore Lakes Golf Club and Banquet Center.
This event is a spectacular celebration. The Theme for this years dinner is "Luau For Kids Sake". It will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Dinner, music, and a fabulous auction will fill the evening hours.

In January of each year, all board members of the St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council join together for review of the prior year's accomplishments and a preview of the coming year's plans for the Council.
The meeting brings together all board members and community partners who have significant involvement with our mission.
This years meeting was held at the Thomas Edison Inn, where we all met for a fabulous breakfast on Thursday, January 10, 2008. We heard from our Executive Director, Sally Straffon, the Honorable John Tomlinson, and the President of our Board, Jean Sturtridge.
We were all encouraged by their remarks to continue our cause in that . . . "It shouldn't hurt to be a child".
Our Annual Awards Luncheon was held on March 13, 2008 at the Fogcutter Restaurant in beautiful downtown Port Huron.
Our luncheon is always a wonderful celebration, featuring a special speaker and honoring several outstanding community child advocates.
Our Child Advocate for 2008 is Tyrone Burrell. He has donated many hours of time through his efforts with "SONS" - a faith based organization -that benefits the youth of our community.
Our Community Child Advocate for 2008 is the Youth Advisory Council of the St. Clair County Community Foundation. This group has donated their time, energy and money toward the support of our agency.
We are proud to honor both our Child Advocate and our Community Child Advocate for their contributions to the community.
